On 21 and 22 July 2022, an intrepid crew undertook the formidable '24 in 24' challenge (2nd year running) - walking 24 miles in 24 hours, with no sleep. Over £10,000 was raised by this monumental effort in very rainy conditions. A huge thanks to all those that walked (Emma, Tony, Fenella, Pam, Clare, Cindy, Jill, Becky, Jaylynne, Caitlin and Poppy and all the ad hoc visitors that supported us on some of the legs) and helped on the day (Carole and Sandra). Plus, of course, thank you to everyone that sponsored us - it really helped us to put one foot in front of the other!).
A huge thank you to Laura Ritchie and all of the generous artists from the Surrey Hills Pleinair Painters, who donated their fantastic artwork for the JJOG art auction. A brilliant £850 was raised to help us fund an English language summer school for 60 Ukrainian children who have settled in the Surrey area. Thank you so much to you all.
Thanks to Mouse and Grape for a wonderful event that along with the raffle raised over £2,000.
Thanks to our intrepid cyclists who battled inclement weather, punctures and wasp stings to ride 80km and raise over £1,000 for Project Princess. HUGE THANKS TO MATT SEAL for leading the crew and keeping them en route. Thanks to Pam, Jill, Max, Becky, Lindsay and the Essex splinter Grup Tracey and Julie. We plan to have another cycling event in 2024 for any keen cyclists.
Thank you to Harringtons Bakery customers for their kind donations, raising over £160 in two collections. Please contact us if you are willing to have a JJOG Collection Jar in your place of work or shop
James loved his time with Ashtead F.C. as a mini Colt and each year we look forward to the James McCartney memorial match played as part of a larger football tournament. We were so pleased it was back this year after a 2 year break due to the pandemic. Thanks to everyone who took part and for all those that visited our stall and played the card game or bought a pair of footie boots. The match was an exciting one...fortunately it didn't have to go to nail biting penalties like the FA Cup Final shortly after. THANKS ASHTEAD F.C. FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT OF OUR CHARITY.
During the first lockdown we held nearly 100 daily WhatsApp quizzes, with the winners each day earning an entry into a grand prize draw. The overall winner was Linda Rossi, who we understand spent her John Lewis vouchers pretty quickly! Many new friends were made as the quizzes helped to keep us occupied during the long lockdown period and many of you now continue your support through membership of our Lucky Numbers club.
A Lucky Numbers draw takes place every month. Contact us if you want to be part of the Club
There’s 6,408 miles between the “home” locations of our 2 main charity projects....or 12.8 million steps. Around 70 supporters completed the journey "virtually" of course and then carried on walking around the coastline of Africa before heading back to White Lodge in Chertsey. THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED AND DONATED
